Gili Trawangan Island
Gili Trawangan is situated east of Bali and northwest of Lombok, Indonesia. As the largest of the Gilis, Trawangan has been the place of choice for travelers in search of an idyllic island lifestyle where they could combine a laid back, chilled out and friendly atmosphere, with more than enough activities and natural wonders to keep you occupied. Here you are able to relax and enjoy the white sandy beaches and crystal blue seas, and combine it with the activities you love the most.
Things to do
The island of Gili Trawangan offers a beautiful nature with an unspoiled scenery for nature lovers, and as the island is not very big it is no trouble to seek adventures on your own, you can not get lost.
A great option is to walk up north of the island - or why not go there by horse? Up north you will find an amazing place for snorkeling. The staff at Rumah Saga will of course be helpful with details.
For those seeking adventure underwater, there are many dive operators and shops. Gili Trawangan is a fantastic place to go snorkeling directly from the beach, and the shoreline offers an amazing variety of exotic species not far from Rumah Saga.
You can also choose to take a daytrip with the glass-bottom-boat around the island and the sister islands of Gili Meno and Gili Air. This will give you a chance to see the colorful fish, turtles and beautiful corals up close, while remaining dry and comfortable.

Nightlife
In the evening the waterfront comes to life, as restaurants and bars start to fire up. Although the island once had a reputation among the back-packing community as a party destination, the island is now attracting more people looking for a peaceful and quiet hide-away. There are still good opportunities for the party crowd though, but if wild dance parties are not to your liking, many restaurants and bars will provide you with sedated drinking and dining by the waterfront.
Getting here
You can reach Gili Trawangan in different ways. Most people arrive from Lombok or from Bali.
If you go by Lombok you will access Gili Trawangan from the harbour Bangsal northwest of Lombok. Domestic Flights enter daily from Bali and Jakarta to Lombok. In the airport you can take a taxi to Bangsal Harbour. You can also take public bemos all over Lombok, it takes time, but is very cheap…
At Bangsal Harbour in Lombok: Go to the ticket office at the sea front and ask for a ticket to Gili Trawangan, and then wait for the next public boat, or you can charge a boat.
If you go directly from Bali you can take different fast boats by the name Mahi-Mahi and Gilicats. The trip takes about 2,5 hour and costs about 600.000 rupiah. If you come from home or another destination, there are international flights entering Lombok from Singapore and Australia.
When you arrive at Gili Trawangan, walk to the art market. When you see the sign “Rumah Saga” turn right and follow the road until you see Rumah Saga. Alternatively you can go by horse wagon for a small amount.
